That is a very good question. As of now, I cannot prove my point scientifically. It rather is an opinion formed based on a lot of conversations, the interviews but also the business development I'm involved in. To your questions (1) Let's for example think of a STO - Security Token Model. In order for that to ever really unleash its full power:
- regulations need to be changed (across countries, not only one)
- there needs to be more education as to why this is better than an existing systems (in most cases we accept systems as is and do not question their functionality; even though they might have been in place for decades. We evolve, industries evolve, why shouldn't systems around us?). To my experience that is also because you need to have domain knowledge and a high level of innovativeness. Rare combinations for some industries.
- a true problem to be identified and accepted by the majority (which can be tidious)
- mindsets needs to be adapted
I'm sure there are more things that can be added to this list.
Question (2): The movement is already happening. For a long time. It all started with Satoshi Nakamoto (I can only recommend to read him up. An interesting anecdote.) The Cryptoanarchists followed and now in every industry there are people bringing in their domain knowledge and gradually changing the perception. Lawyers doing their part pro-bono, start-ups taking a huge risk and hold on to their ideas and push through a time of uncertainty, people in corporations putting their identity on the line to identify PoCs and fighting for acceptance with little evidence of any ROI to come anytime soon, Governments dicussing e-money, unicorns launching their own currencies and so on. These are just a few examples, there are so many more things happening. Eventually all of this will come together but that takes time, endurance and more people to support the efforts of this movement. If you do, you are part of it. :) And support can manifold in many different ways - giving financial or mental support, giving them a platform to share their thoughts, building on the ideas, supervising blockchain related research, etc. :)
